I have never bought into documentaries or data stating that playing a musical instrument leads to being "smarter" or "better" in academic subjects. However, that doesn't mean I haven't been curious about how various researchers portray this connection between music and the human brain. When I came across this video on Facebook, I was finally intrigued. In my opinion, it is a more accurate version of how playing a musical instrument affects human mental functions.

Multitasking, organization, attention to detail, analysis and planning skills are developed through music training and performance; those skills, thus, become enhanced in other aspects of life.
